6th Grade Music

Welcome back to music!

We will begin our year with a brief review of music theory concepts we learned in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.  From there, we will practice composing, singing, playing, and interpreting music!  More info to come!

5th Grade Music

Welcome back to school!

We will dive in to our Musical Performance Unit to start the year.  The performances will be Thursday, November 2nd.  The daytime performance will take place from about 10:00 AM - 10:40 AM.  The evening performance will begin at 7:00 PM.  Both performances will be held  in the Elementary School gym in Mazeppa.  More info to come!

This course is a standards-based study of fundamental physics concepts.  Emphasis is placed on the utilization of mathematical, analytical, data acquisition, graphical, and communication skills as well as interdisciplinary approaches to discovery. Concepts and skills are reinforced by a strong emphasis on hands-on laboratory experiences and the integration of other branches of science. Applications to society, individuals, and the utilization of technology are included.

Chemistry is included in the high school curricula to introduce students to the fundamental laws and concepts of the components that make up the world around us, as seen through the eyes of a chemist.  This is achieved through the acquisition and use of reasoning, logic, and inquiry; skills that can be applied to situations outside the chemistry classroom as well.  The subject matter of this class will be considered from the theoretical, application based, and hands-on perspectives.

Physical Science

Physical Science is a hands-on science class that includes physics and chemistry.  Students will learn about matter and how matter interacts.  The physical sciences use math as a language to help explain concepts such as motion, gravity, energy, nuclear decay, and chemical reactions.  Students who enroll in physical science should have a strong math background.  This class will also encourage strong independence as students will participate in presentations, debates, independent writing, calculating, and research.

AP Chemistry

AP Chemistry will be an option in the registration packet for 2018-2019.  Strongly recommended for seniors pursuing a nursing/medical career in conjunction with Advanced Biology.

The AP® Chemistry course provides students with a college-level foundation to support future advanced course work in chemistry. Students cultivate their understanding of chemistry through inquiry-based investigations, as they explore topics such as: atomic structure, intermolecular forces and bonding, chemical reactions, kinetics, thermodynamics, and equilibrium.

Math 7th grade

Math 7th grade will cover the Minnesota State Standards for 7th grade.  These include, number sense, beginning algebra, geometry, and probability and statistics.

Advanced Math 7th Grade

Advanced Math 7 is for students who excelled on their MCA-III in sixth grade.  This class will cover all of the 7th grade Minnesota State standards, as well as begin the 8th grade standards.  The 7th grade standards cover number sense, beginning algebra, geometry, and probability and statistics.  The 8th grade standards we will cover will include more algebra and graphing of lines.
