Senior Parent Letter

September 13, 2018

Dear seniors and Parents/Guardians of Seniors:

Congratulations, you have made it to your senior year!  This year is full of anticipation and excitement as you look forward to the future.  Keep in mind that 26 credits are required for graduation. Please review your son/daughter’s transcript on infinite campus to see if your son/daughter is on track for graduation.  We also review this but ultimately it is the student’s responsibility.

Seniors who are considering college, either a 2 or 4 year, should be working on applications at this time.  The majority of college applications are available online. Once you apply online please let me know as we still need to send an official transcript.

Financial aid applications (FAFSA) will be available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  The FAFSA forms can be submitted any time after October 1, 2018.  Financial aid workshops are held at local community colleges to assist parents in this process.  To find dates and times go to www.mafaa.org.  Our local community scholarship booklet will be available in March.

I will be meeting one on one with each senior within the next month to make sure they have a plan for life after high school and assist them with any questions they might have.

Seniors should also sign up for the Remind app that Ms. Klein and Ms. Kennedy, our senior advisors, use to notify you of important deadlines and information. You can register to receive text or email. Parents/Guardians can sign up as well.  See the attached page for instructions, or visit https://www.remind.com/join/zm2019.

Included is a list of important dates.  Dates are approximate and you will receive further information in the future.  If there are any questions please feel free to contact me.
