As I begin my second year as the principal of this great school district, the 2016-17 school year promises to be exciting on several fronts. Students in grades 7-12 will be a part of a true 1-1 environment as they and their families will have the option to bring their own device, purchase a device through the district, or lease a device.
Combined with the new 1-1 program, our teachers have undergone extensive training during the summer months to start incorporating Schoology into their classrooms as well. Schoology will definitely transform the way teachers design curriculum, share information with students and parents, as well as provide more opportunities for self-paced learning.
At the high school level, we continue to partner with WETC schools to offer a wide range of interactive TV courses, in house AP courses, as well as continuing to expand our College In Schools (CIS) courses via partnering with Southwest State University. in 2016-17, College Communications is offered in conjunction with other college courses of College Algebra and Trigonometry. In the forthcoming years, College Biology, Sociology, and American Politics will be offered for college credit.
Recently, Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School was recognized as the 47th best high school in the state of Minnesota, earning a silver rating:http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/minnesota/districts/zu...
Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that there are a variety of courses in a variety of subject matters to appease not only state requirements, but student interest.
I am grateful to serve the communities of Zumbrota and Mazeppa as the building principal. The students of ZM are surrounded by tremendous teachers and staff who care about students and learning. The ZM tradition in strong education resonates throughout southeast Minnesota as prospective parents to our district comment time and time again about the wonderful reputation ZM schools have as a reason for enrolling their student in our district.
