Supply List for 5th Grade Band

What materials do I need to bring to band every day to be successful in 5th grade band?

  • My instrument!
  • My lesson book - Kjos Tradition of Excellence Book 1
  • My music folder and sheet music (when passed out by Ms. Miller)
  • Pencil - one will be provided by Ms. Miller

I play the clarinet or saxophone. What supplies should I have every day to keep my instrument working properly?

  • A swab!
  • Cork grease
  • At least TWO reeds in good playing condition (no big chips, cracks, etc.)

 

I play the flute. What supplies should I have every day to keep my instrument working properly?

  • A cleaning rod!
  • A cleaning cloth or swab!

 

I play the trumpet, baritone, or tuba. What supplies should I have every day to keep my instrument working properly?

  • Valve oil
  • Slide grease

I play the French horn. What supplies should I have every day to keep my instrument working properly?

  • Rotor oil (slightly different than valve oil, but valve oil will work in a pinch)
  • Slide grease

 

I play the trombone. What supplies should I have every day to keep my instrument working properly?

  • Slide oil (different than valve oil--trombones should only use slide oil!)

 

I play percussion. What supplies should I have every day for band?

  • Sticks & mallets
