The field of public education changes quickly and if you don't adapt accordingly, you fall behind. As you are perhaps aware, more now than ever before, there are various avenues in which students can access opportunities to earn college credits while in high school. We are proud of what we offer here at ZM in terms of opportunity
for students to earn college credits "in-house" (versus driving to a nearby college campus) as students can earn up to 67 college credits without stepping foot off of our campus. This means that a ZM student has the potential to earn over $20,000 in college credits/tuition in our building, which could result in total cost savings of $40,000 or more if you add in two years of room and board expenses.
This information has been shared at parent meetings, open houses, etc. However, we thought it would be a good idea to create a "one-stop-shop" for families to get a better understanding of what we offer and how it might impact their child(ren) from a financial standpoint.
To access information related to courses we offer for college credit, please view at the link below.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Stapleton (Principal) or Ms. Lockner (Counselor).

Cozy Cougar blanket fundraiser! Look for order forms at the 7-12 open house and K-6 before-school conferences!
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Middle/High School Culture & Climate Committee. Your support helps us create a positive school environment by funding teacher appreciation efforts, student recognition events, and community-building activities throughout the year. Every blanket purchased not only gives you a cozy way to show Cougar pride, but also directly supports the students and staff who make our school special.

Class of 2038! Last week we welcomed our incoming kindergartners to school for Bridge to Kindergarten, giving them the opportunity to meet their teachers and become familiar with kindergarten. The students had so much fun learning about kindergarten, including school breakfasts, classroom learning and play, meeting their teachers and peers, and a bus ride to the park. They were lucky enough to bring home a bag of learning activities, as well as information and a book provided by our PTO.

5th & 6th Grade Tackle Football
Equipment hand-out for Wednesday, August 20th is canceled.
We are currently short on Youth Helmets, but they have been ordered, but they will not be here in time for equipment to be handed out or the first practice on the 25th.
Therefore, there will be no equipment handout until we get those helmets in and we can properly outfit ALL of our participants. They WILL still have practice as scheduled as they can still go through all of the drills, most likely using tackling dummies instead of each other.
As for now attend practices as scheduled and when we have the gear we will get the boys outfitted. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions.

Parents and community members are invited to a community screening of "Screenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age" on Wednesday, August 27th @ 6:00 PM in the MS/HS Auditorium. (At the tail end of the 7-12 Open House night)
60 minute run-time
Synopsis
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time — friction she knew all too well.
In Screenagers, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, Screenagers reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
