Zumbrota-Mazeppa 2nd grade students celebrated the completion of the 2nd grade DARE program. Over the course of 8 lessons, students learned valuable skills to keep them safe at school, at home and in the community. Lessons include topics such as: -Who to call in an emergency -Signs and signals -How to be safe both at home and outside - what to do when someone you don’t know approaches you - Empathy - how to recognize and report bullying This year for graduation, Deputy Tiedemann surprised the classes with all new footballs, basketballs, soccer balls and kickballs to be used at recess. They were also treated with root beer floats served up by members of The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office command staff. Students then wasted no time putting the new equipment to good use on the playground!
