Mrs. Herzig’s class have been learning about the Arctic habitat and the different animals that live there. They’ve learned that these animals have a layer of blubber to help them survive in the cold temperatures. Last week, they had the opportunity to make blubber and then used it to keep their hands warm in ice water to understand how it works.

We’re very excited to announce an upcoming Perry Outreach Program on Saturday, April 11th at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The Perry Outreach Program is a free, one-day, hands-on experience to encourage youth to pursue careers in medicine and engineering. Students will hear from leaders in these fields and try it for themselves by performing mock orthopedic surgeries and biomechanics experiments. We are currently seeking applicants for our Rochester, MN program. Participants should be in high school (Grades 10 and up) with a passion for science, medicine and/or engineering. Although The Perry Initiative welcomes all students to apply to the program so long as they are committed to our mission.
